WHAT TO EAT IN MAURITIOUS

Mauritian Cuisine is diverse with a fusion of African , Indian, China, and Europe flavors offering something for everyone. You will find sea food dishes such as fish vindaye and sea food curry, dholl puri, biryani (a Swahili rice dish) offering a taste of the local culinary traditions. I also have samosas and mandazi. Since I only booked for bed and breakfast most of the time, I ate lunch at local spots which was very affordable and sometimes they will give me extra food for free.

WHERE TO STAY IN MAURITIUS
On this trip I stayed at just one hotel for the entire duration. I stayed at Stella Rina Hotel, located in Grand Baie, which was the only affordable option available. Overall, it was fine, very spacious, and included breakfast.

WHAT TO PACK

Sunscreen: the sun is intense in Mauritius, do not forget to reapply your sunscreen especially when you go for snorkeling
Outlet Types they have C and G type plugs. Some hotels will have USB charger but its limited. Having this charger plus adapter help you stay charged.
Water shoes and sandals since some beaches have sharp rocks and coral
Dog treats: This is for dog lovers, you will find stray dogs everywhere and they are so friendly.

HOW TO MOVE AROUND MAURITIUS

Since I was exploring on a budget, public bus system was very affordable way for me to travel around the island.
Also taking a bus gave me a chance to experience local life, meet residents, and observe the day-to-day rhythms on Mauritian society
